The GREEN card is specifically for people carrying out labouring duites.
Card requirements: All applicants must have passed one of the following:
- An NVQ in Construction Health & Safety
- A CSCS approved alternative qualification. Alternative qualifications with an expiry date can only be used once when renewing your Labourer card.
The RED experienced technical, supervisor or manager(TSM) card is issued on a temporary basis, while a Construction related NVQ is being achieved.
This card is valid for one year and cannot be renewed. This temporary card is available specifically for workers with on the job experience who are registered on a Construction related NVQ.
Applicants must also have passed the appropriate level CITB Health, Safety and Environment test within the last two years
The BLUE card can be applied for once a Construction related NVQ has been achieved.
You can apply for this card once you have achieved a Construction related NVQ level 2.
This card is valid for five years and renewal is simple using your NVQ.
All applicants must also have passed the appropriate level CITB Health, Safety and Environment test within the last two years.
The GOLD card is available for supervisor and technical occupations subject to achieving a Construction related supervisory/technical NVQ or an Occupational Work Supervision NVQ.

This card is valid for five years, renewing is done using your NVQ.
All applicants must pass the Supervisors CITB Health, Safety and Environment test.
The BLACK card is available for manager and technical occupations subject to the achievement of a Construction management/technical related NVQ level 5, 6 or 7.
This card is valid for five years and can be renewed using your NVQ.
All applicants must pass the CITB Managers and Professional Health, Safety and Environment test.
CSCS does not offer any courses or qualifications.
